Logo-Show-go

On day 2 of the campaign a lot of members asked me to get a logo organised because it would help the promotion of the campaign. I first used a picture that I had photoshopped myself using some stock RSS pix (chaddiwala etc). ? And as I started thinking, I also thought it was immature on my part to think of only the RSS as right-wing. There are all kinds of right-wing groups: Hindu, Muslim and Christian. The people in this campaign signed up because they dislike violence from any moral police. So I removed that logo.

I called a designer friend and told her about the campaign: pink chaddi, muthalik, srs etc. She sent me a few variations on what we have now and I thought it looked cool. I used it. Subsequently lots of folks have had lots of objections about that too but in the last very hectic week so many other things have been happening I have thought the logo not a top priority.

I have since spoke to the designer, asked her what her inspiration was. She is having a fit laughing because what she used for the design is an old icecream poster! Sorry, offended parties!

update: decided to insert 2 pictures of what the designer was talking about:

Now let me clarify this: I have no interest in annoying people or upsetting people's religious beliefs.

Two reasons:

a. The campaign has a lot of positive energy from a very heterogeneous group. We have made history. Why mess that up?

b. The sort of Hindu-baiting these pink condom guys are suggesting I did, take an Om, put a chaddi. That's not cool. That's not funny. That's bad taste. That's why we are not allowing those annoying photoshopped vulgar Muthalik pictures that people are posting in the group. There's no need to be rude to people for no reason. Even to Muthalik.

The pink condom guys look like they are really good at giving people things to distrust. Like our silly logo. If you guys don't like the logo we will get rid of it. No problem.

But meanwhile don't we want to stay with the important stuff, violence by moral police?

  1. Totally agree. The pink condom guys are confused somewhere between hating secularism (which they call 'sick'ularism) and opposing moral policing. Add to that their new found zeal to go against a group like this, which for the record, also stands to fight moral police.

    To the pink condom guys,

Sort yourselves out. Nobody wants an undue scene.

    Peace!

  2. Totally agree too. We have made history and I am proud to be associated with this campaign.

    Whats the next step?

  3. Further clarifications on the logo-
'The pattern in the back is what is called a “vector sun” in graphic design terms. Its been used over and over again (used to death actually) by graphic designers as a way of exaggerating or glorifying a central object.
If you want to know what the reference for the design of this poster was go check out retro icecream posters.
yes. perhaps I am guilty of defaming icecream.
I scream! You scream we all scream for ICECREAM!

I'll wholeheartedly admit to accusations of 'bad design' due to lack of time. But no defaming here.
Due apologies to retro icecream companies. :D

If we want a new logo/no logo then that is also possible!

  10. @truecongresspolitics: That picture was nasty and vulgar and in extremely bad taste. You are trying to make this about religion, and it's not. Try to learn some decency for a change, mister. Might help you actually get somewhere in life.

You are awesome Nisha Susan, Ratna, and everyone else. Don't despair with all the haters. You all rock!

  11. Don't let anyone hijack the cause. Not worth it. If they have an issue with your ads then they can look away. I think they're great, you guys are great, and well... rock on. :)

  12. Maharashtra minister hits tribal woman in Nagpur
A tribal woman in Nagpur was hit by Maharashtra Tribal Affairs Minister Vijay Vadetivar.

During an interview in a camp in Chandarpur district, the minister got furious and threw a bundle of files at the woman. The woman immediately lost consciousness and was then admitted in a hospital where she still is.

Eyewitnesses say that the minister had an argument with the woman who is a district Congress leader.

No case has been registered against the minister and even the minister has denied the charges.

WHERE are you at the first place? First of all if the info was TRUE do blog details about it and let the ppl here think about it.

Responsible ppl should highlight such happenings and i feel the campaign should go on for any human rights violations.

    jai ho....

  14. @NIsha susan,
the background of the logo that you are using is the same as Brahmakumaris, where "Om" is in the centre.

If you want cheap publicity, you could have done something other than playing with religious sentiments of others.
why dont you try your catholic church, or target SIMI or indian mujahiddeen for bomb blasts?
if you had, you wont have any chaddys to remove.

    keep off, you are disgusting.

  15. Again @ NIsha susan,

if alchoholism is part of your culture, why do you want to spoil india with it ?

There are many brothers and dads, who neither go to pubs and dance nude with girls like you,
and dont want their daughters, sisters or any female family member to do so. I wont say against, but IT IS NOT INDIAN CULTURE.

What ever you might say about Sree ram sena,
Even if they resorted to violence,
i believe they are much better than you, because they had a valid motive.

You are just a one of those sick, parasites,
    craving for cheap publicity.
and i bet, out of the 797 followers in your campaign followers, guys just want to get inside somebody's cheddies in the pub,and girls just want to remove them in the pub.

I am an indian, and if you were so much awe stuck by the violence shown in that video clip , i wonder if you are living in india.
Just get on the streets there is much much much more violence against woman happening everywhere, for dumb secularism and due to alchoholism.

I dont think, your whole family and followers would have enough chaddies to give to all the perpetrators.

I wish you were not a journalist, because with access to media, you can influense the public in a negative way sooo much.

  16. @Nisha susan

    Liked your last sentence;
Your more important business is being with topic of "violence and moral police"

since you have made enough Hindu responsible dads and brothers, feel "Fascists" for not supporting pub culture,
Now go try SIMI,IM territories, Tell their woman to go take off burqas and booze in the pubs.

And teach your catholic church in kerala not to issue notices and cermons to public supporting the murderers of that Nun who happened to see a threesome between the two priests and their mistress(another Nun) in convent kitchen

You keep on making my hands itch..

    1.You have made history ??

No future generation will remember you for your pink chaddies sent to muthalik.
If you and your followers had done a candle lit vigil to protest against violence , even i would have supported you.

May god give right people right chances,
Why dont you go get married, instead of being a journalist. Atleast only your husband would suffer, instead of all the public who are reading your articles..

  18. @special K,

You guys wont "rock on", I can understand many of you have "hard on"s though.
The word "chaddy" seems to have attracted lots of pubgoers, who are after chaddies.
Kudos @Nisha, on targeting the precise "market segment" and knowing whom to attract

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think forming organizations is a matter of choice and should be left to individuals
Maybe if the women want to speak up, they will, its like breaking out from their shell... if they want to go to the pubs, they should be allowd to, what where these religious police doing when the pubs were being built and inaugurated....

  20. @work hard,
    Totally agree,
Let these pub goers do what ever they want,
But let them not project it as part of indian culutre

I think you are being very judgemental.. I dont think any of these girls or even guys for that mattered have tagged themselves as cultural..That is just ur opinion..

  23. @Work Hard,

Yar,why should i judge you people?

    and being tagged "Cultural":
Is it wrong? I thought you were promoting a "pub culture " as well. cant i promote my own culture?

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Born Hindu,

No body , neither me, nor anybody posting in this blog, nor the girls in mangalore were or are promoting pub culture, we were just minding our own business when somebody else, intruded and that provokes.. So if you want to promote Culture, do it without slamming others, if you respect, you get respect, you dont respect, you dont get it back!!!!!!!!!!

  25. By your campaign, you are promoting pub culture; the motive might be to protest against violence, which i too agree to;

And when your campaign reaches final stage,
you are doing the following things:
    1) Maligning all hindu right wing organizations(check the chat and responses in this blog)
    2) Making fun of brahmakumaris logo.
3)Promoting pubs and alchoholism, irrespective of sex and religion.

If my answers are slamming you,it means it is having the right effect on you.Good.

  26. Its not slamming me, its just bothering me you are getting very agitated....

  28. Sajan,
Why the heck you think she will send anything to Bishops? Her campaign was funded by churches , bishops and congress italian sonia party and you expect her to work against them? And her employer is getting funds from churches..

Look at this video how Tehalka and Susan employer tarun tejpal's link with SIMI

    http://video.aol.com/video-detail/tehelka-and-tarun-tejpals-link-with-isi-and-simi-exposed/288230385388829265/?icid=VIDURVNWS04

If she wants to do something good then first she should send pink chaddi to her self and to her employer
