AMUL says hello to pink chaddi

66 comments:

  1. Great work !

Something more is required to defame India. Great approach ! What Mutalik did was fully wrong but what these people are going to do is more shameful. Women are taking initiative to this type of protest ? What you want to Show ?
Only that you are only goods to be used ? Why you want to be loosed ? Only to be used as a toy ? Why sending only Chaddies, go further send Your undergarments or more if you do not mind why not present yourself before those goons to be used ?

    Shame

on all you to support such vulgarity and following blindly the western culture. What this culture will give you ? Only loneliness, frustration and the feeling of been used . All the decent women refrain from such acts only those who do not have any respect for elders and their ethos indulge in such acts. These women are those who want to drink and get "Used" by everyone.

And the men joining them are only those who want to exploit them. Is there anyone who will take his wife, daughter, sister along with him to the pub and present them to someone for enjoying sex and wine ?? No, no one will do this but they can do this with their so called girlfriends as they know that they are not going to marry them and some other persons life will get ruined. But do not worry there is a circle.....

  2. Wow. Indian dudes are unreal!

    I'm glad I wasn't born there!

Keep up the good work girls.

We American men respect you for your initiative and pro-active stance.

I've always had alot of respect for Indian women, and now, even more so now that I see what type of mentality and patriarchy you are up against.

  3. Good job, good job. I love all the strength behind the initiative and I support this hundred percent. This ain't about religion or "culture". Dude, kamasutra, come on now. It's about women's rights. Go, all sensible Indian people. Make India smarter, not full of narrow-minded shitheads.

  4. "What you want to Show ?
Only that you are only goods to be used ? Why you want to be loosed ?" it seems!

Love - whichever sex you might belong to, make sure there is some activity in the upstairs region! But, great idea - why not undrgarments? I'm sure they will love it!

  5. @Michael McClarren
    Do not generalize you fool.
    "Wow. Indian dudes are unreal!

    I'm glad I wasn't born there!"

Not everyone is a Muthalik. By generalizing you run the risk of going the Muthalik way of generalizing that all pub going girls are uncultured.
    And yes, "screw you muthalik".
    Great going. Love this campaign.

  6. Dude, (Love), the pink chaddi is meant to be over the top and sarcastic...if it was meant to be salacious, it would have involved lacy see through bras or thongs...and yeah, chaddis are a bit shocking..but thats what Mutalik needs, don't you think? I big, big shock...and a long term jail sentence for inciting gender based violence.

  11. There are Muthaliks in every second home in India. Women should come out and protest against these men who mentally abuse them in their homes and should be bold enough to give them a pink chadi as an expression of love.
Going to pub doesn't make one go forwrd.
The prostitutes and loose women were doing so since ages...All the Best to Women !

  17. my views on the campaign: (these are my views and can be critical)...

girls and guys are coming out with the pink chaddi campaign and they claim that this campaign shown they can stand upto themselves and lift their heads high... but at the end, is this what people wanted to achieve ?? just because there are some ppl who were jobless enough to carry out some activities on valentine´s day, will stooping low to their level and protesting against them be of any use ???

the point is this: if u throw stones at the sun, they will only return to blind u... am not implying that this campaign is like clashing with the sri ram sene, but it will never bring a solution to the problem...

at the end of everything, there may be a big hungama and this talk of redeeming the pride and standing upto rights will continue for sometime, but ultimately there will be a void in the ppl´s thought of a sense that they have not achieved any concrete solution ultimately...

constructive comments are welcome (please dont say something like u have no brain or so... it only defeats the whole purpose)

  18. Few unanswered questions

    1. Why Taliban Woman Nisha Susan put up RSS Image on the her Panty Blog ? And then Removed later, if this was protest against SRS, not Hinduism ?

    2. In the name of sarcasm, can I slap some one and say, understand my sarcasm in slapping you, dude ? I slap you for my personal liberty.

    3. Throwing Panty is Talibanisation of Women. We all must oppose Talibanism in India, be it SRS or Pubgoing Loose Women.

    4. Pub Bharo either symbolic or not, is supporting alcoholism and alcoholism must be opposed. Those supporting in the name personal freedom have no right to impose their drinking habit on others.

    Bottom Line is

STOP WOMEN TALIBANISATION IN INDIA LED BY NISHA SUSAN.

STOP HINDU BASHING IN THE NAME OF TALIBANISATION

  20. There is an organisation in Tamilnadu which collects used clothes, bedsheets etc, wash it, cut, fold and distribute it to the poorwomen who cant afford.

Why don't you channelise this energy of campain to any of Indian Women's real problem, and not by eye-for-eye, ear for ear campain.

Every day 1000s of women and killed in India for dowry, 1000s of women dies due to basic lack of medical facilities and so on and so forth.

The real way to counter these kind of extermists like Muthalib, is by not reacting this way, but by interverning and making life better of Indian women.

Indian women needs real help to stand up to the evils of this society.

Pledge to donate one packet of sanitary napkin to the poor women in government "women and child" hospital this valentines day.

  29. At least this campaign shows the unity and realization of rights of democracy by Indian youth at last. Who says slavery is gone? See it here all alive and in daily lives. What Muthalik and his goons did was really shameful and demolition of one's basic rights of livelihood and practicing own self-judged life style, and it should be condemned as being done now. But we should not forget the very root of the cause.
The root I feel is the politics, done in the name of God, Religion or tradition. Anyone anywhere is not entitled to shove his/her ideas into my life style in a democracy or a free country. Freedom is man's right by birth. Also going to pub or indulging in indecent activities, is an individual choice.
As youth of the country we should start thinking beyond now and choose our leaders carefully. This incident and the protest to it shall be taken as stepping stones for new thought process to bring in change at the root level of thought process of the political machinery, society and general mass as responsible citizens of the country.
Any gender bias disguised as any religion, traditional or any political interest should be condemned.

  33. Media coverage of the Mangalore pub attack has left me puzzled. When it comes to our children/sisters/wifes,we want them to refrain from drinks, drugs, sex and pubs, but when it comes to others children/sis/wifes,we stop shy of correcting them.Would the Union Minister for Women’s Welfare,Who vociferuosly condemned the mangalore incident, appreciate her children indulging in such activities? The pub culture does not reflect the prgress of our nation.India will Shine only by retaining its Culture and Tradition, and not by imitating the West….

I am not favour of the idea.In the name of fashion & trying to be bold,girls/boys nowdays try to imitate hollywood stars. In fact the so-called modern look is an invitation to trouble.People should realise the defference between being fashionable and indecency.

There is no harm in being modern, but one should keep in mind the culture that the majority of the population follows. The pink Chaddi campaign is an attempt to paint the picture of indian women as ultra-modern,which is far from reality. Therefore,it is consider as a useless idea from a crap mind…

  34. We are a country that lives by symbols, the trishul, the crescent, the dot on the forhead, the side we have our noses pirced, our surnames, the cars we use. All these days we have sat by as these jongoists have approprated symbol after symbol. They decide where we can and cannot go?? What we can and cannot do? Who the fuck says they have the right to make us the vessels to uphold their warped sense of honor?? What if all the women in India decided that men can't go bare-chested, their legs should be covered, that men on the street beyond 8 are inviting rape and molestation. Anyone who says the anger or the reaction is misplaced hasn't faced what I as an Indian woman face everyday. My breasts are a liability, my legs are some bizarre museum piece to be ogled at. I must worry about who thinks what at every step in my life. While my male counterparts can fuck around, walk around half naked, smoke, drink and never ever be judged as 'loose characters'. Well here are a bunch of women saying we demand to be loose. We demand that you leave my personal choices to me. That as long as the law of the land does not forbid it, noone has the right in a democracy to tell me where i can or cannot be. Pink Chaddis? I want to send then manuals on the g-spot, a copy of the vagina monologues and a thong. It is not about degrading women. It is about acknowledging that we are individuals with our own sexuality, aspirations and the right to fuck up if we want without a hundred people getting off on it.

  43. Oh, come on girls, have some mercy on these folks.. You got it totally wrong.
    The real problems are :

1.These idiots don't have money to go a to pub have a drink. Reason ? No job, low IQ, no education & a very dirty mind. So when you folks go to pub and spend 1000's of Rupees on drinks, what else you expect them to do?

2.They are a bunch of losers not even a single girl will look at due to the reasons mentioned in the previous problem. After all they are not MK Gandhi or Martin Luther King or Christ to think and understand that you get what you deserve.

    So what's the solution ?

Here we go - For problem No. 1, its very easy. Each one of you offer a drink for at least one of these losers on Valentine's day.

For the second problem, it is equally simple. All the beautiful girls out there, give at least one smile to these losers. Well, I know you don't want to get involved due to the reasons mentioned in item No. 1, but have two more drinks and try hard. After 2 drinks even a buffalo will look like Miss World pageant contestant.

Sending Chaddi's to these guys are not a solution at all. For heavens sake, none of these idiots would have seen a girl “properly”. Please don't make them horny by sending the Chaddi's.

  50. a response to mr smart ass who listed all the reasons why 'these people' attack women...apparently because of low iq, no education and dirty minds! who the hell do you think you are? someone millions of women will swoon over and immediately offer themselves to? take your 'listen, girls' and stuff it! seriously, if your understanding of politics and women's rights amounts to just this much, that these men are 'losers' and doing this because lack of education=low iq, then i just feel sorry for you, there are definitely millions of uneducated people in this country who are much much smarter than you are and who have a better understanding of what's going on...and who are these 'girls' you are addressing, with your 'let's be cool and say cool things' attitude? the problem is not that these men have low iqs or are uneducated or have dirty minds (seriously, are you telling me your mind isn't dirty? ha!), there has been a history of making women responsible for 'indian culture' and this is part of that...and it's also about communal politics, or have you missed that completely?

  57. TALIBANIZATION in PU DENTAL COLLEGE CAMPUS

Ram sene has company at Dr.HSJ Institute of Dental Sciences, Chandigarh, in its Director, Prof Gauba, who believes in strict Dress code ( Salwar Kameez only) for females, and reportedly imposes fine for non-compliance.
I wonder how Salwar Kameez for females in Professional Colleges ( as dress code) can convey sence of sincerity to the patients when the same is not applicable to males. Surprisingly this expression has received endorsed by INDIAN Express, Chandigarh.
Pasted below is the news item in IE dated: Dec, 20, 2008

Dental college makes its presence felt
    Neelam Sharma
Posted online: Dec 20, 2008 at 2336 hrs
Chandigarh : It has been nearly three years since the Dr H S Judge Institute of Dental Sciences was established at the Panjab University (PU) campus.
Dental students: a different group on the campus
There are two things that separate the dental students from others on the campus.
First, jeans and casuals are strictly banned on the premises and second, a strict attendance requirement of 75 per cent that is adhered to in spirit.
“Girls come in salwar kameez and boys in formal shirts and trousers. The dress code is maintained despite pressure from various student bodies. It is important that students convey a sense of sincerity to the patients who come in pain,” says Professor Gauba. As for the attendance, 40 students were detained last year for shortage of attendance.

    Girls of Chandigarh, wake up.

  61. We seem to forget that modernization is not necessarily equal to westernization. And culture is not a static concept. Can one of the pople defending Indian culture above define it for me? I have serious dowbts that they can. Indian culture is a massive, complex and heterogenous movement of a million people living rich, unique and diverse lives. This culture includes Nagas, Boros, Kashmiris, Tamilians, Gujratis, Punjabis, Rajasthanis... a host of different ways of life and thought. If there is a common thread that runs through the hundreds of microcultures in India then it is our sense of colour, our emotionality, our tolerance (as compared to several cultures across the world) and our syncretism. It is because Indians are predominantly comfortable with heterogeneity that you can still witness a hundred indigenous dialects, traditons, festivals and belief systems in India. Secondly drinking is not alien to Indian culture. And by 'Indian culture' I mean the narrowly defined predominantly male, Hindu orthodox view of Indian culture. And that too with convenient parts snipped off. Anyway, Hindu culture as espoused by this narrow-minded and unrealistic bunch obviously presupposes an acceptance of mythology. And hindu mythology has several instances of Gods drinking.
The second or third (i forget which) key point to be noted is that just because the west is practising something does not necessarily decide that it is evil. The right of woman to wear what they are comfortable with, just like men is one such practise. And with our dismal record of crimes against women, we should now stop pretending that covering up women or tieing them indoors to 'protect' them prevents them from being used as sexual objects. That needs to be rectified by educating men, not by controlling women. Women should be able to walk around in shorts and saris and skirts and pants and whatever. It is the men who should be taught that they have no right to ogle, touch or molest. Women should not need to cover up, if the Senas of the world focussed on eve teasers instead of the women. Or is molestation an acceptable part of Indian culture?

  62. A Mature woman says:
This is the correct way to discipline minds who think that women go to pubs only to get a date or get drunk & go looking for a man. No we also go to enjoy with other women friends to socialize and just have a good time. That does not lable us as loose charactered. Yes we love to dress up show off and just be ourselves. Enjoying good conversation and dancing to live music is not a crime for any gender. Grow up

  63. Amul ad punchline always have served as social commentary and i love love them.
Meanwhile, the chaddi campaign per say and the slogan were meant as a biting sarcastic comback and the babbling goons who hide behind culture.
It is a pity that the culture beacons lack even the basic language skill to understand a sarcastic comeback.
No one really here is wanting to proposition goondas with chaddis. And btw, underwear is underwear, The nastiness is only in the minds of the people who associate a chaddi with perversion. Underwear is just a piece of clothing and pink is for valentine's, and the pink chaddi campaign is a sarcastic humor filled comeback at people who try to attack other people and they do so because they are illinformed and ignorant and feel threatened by independant women .Why ? because they are insecure sore losers. that is why.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Why is it that only women going to pubs is western culture? What about men? Why are they never answerable to anyone? Even if they come home drunk and beat up the spouse, or kill their 4 year old child...That is acceptable? I am not a feminist, I just believe people make their own choices and take responsibility for them. What's good for the goose is good for the gander too...You can not perpetrate crime and blame the victim for provoking you...provoking? Do you not have a bloody mind of your own?
