A draft suggested by a PC campaigner is here. Feel free to write your own, people.
Dear Sir,
In the last week women in the cities of Bangalore and Mangalore have faced physical attacks by gangs of strangers. These women , without the slightest provocation - unless exercising your rights as a free citizen of India by travelling, driving a car, or walking on the street as all of us have the right to do - can be counted as a provocation - were threatened, intimidated, cursed, and beaten. Some of them will be traumatized for life ; others will be afraid to walk the streets of their own cities again. These attacks are nothing less than a dastardly attempt to circumscribe the freedom of movement of women.
We are a group of concerned citizens, male and female, old and young, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian, from all walks of life, who have gathered to express our outrage and to register our strong protest that such goons are allowed to disrupt the lives of ordinary citizens with impunity. We ask that you restore to us our right to walk our own cities free of fear and the threat of assault. We ask that you bring these miscreants to justice and return to us the confidence in our lawmakers which should be our birthright. For this is not just a "women's issue," when one woman is attacked, we are all diminished; we all have our rights as citizens eroded along with her.
We, the people, ask you for justice and for protection. We hope and trust that you will not fail us.
Sincerely,
CC your mail to mahilabharati@yahoo.com so that we have a record of the numbers going.

E-mail sent to Acharya, Chidambaram and Sonia Gandhi (heck, why not?!)
ReplyDeleteFraud campaign is it?! I've been subject to harassment several times, ever since I hit puberty in fact. My friends and I have been subjected to groping, hitting, pushing, brushing, whistling, comments and ogling. And we're all citizens of Bangalore. And most of the time these incidents happened in broad daylight. In Bangalore.
ReplyDeleteThe girls haven't filed a complaint because the attitude of the police isn't a whole lot better. A policeman in a cheetah came across me and my friend, sitting on a bench on a well lit street near our houses, and started to interrogate us. A number of questions were asked, in suspicious tones, while he letched. He then proceeded to advise us to return home and not stay out so at night-especially because I happened to be wearing my school uniform, a skirt-because girls from good families don't do that. It was around 8 pm.
Umesh just because it hasn't happened to you do not make a mockery out of it.
Sent an email to Acharya and Chidambaram and yes, added Sonia Gandhi also in CC. I am going to courier a letter to the Ajai Singh.
ReplyDeleteUmesh, u dont have any sister?? What if it happened to your mother?? Oh they wont feel bad, After getting slapped and beaten, they will just get up, brush their dress and then carry on... IS IT? May be this is the way u want your sister/mother/wife/daughter to be treated.

The latest wave of attack on women who like to get drunk is a cover up by Ram Sena to look good in the eyes of conservative people like myself. For last 10 years they were sleeping when our electronic media and bollywood movies were busy making Indian women a commodity for use and exploitation. The seeds of women exploiting their sexuality by getting drunk were sown by our so called elite group of journalists like Barkha Dutt, Natasha and Sonia Singh. These educated Indians who claim to be very honest don't even understand the basics of how the theory of freedom for women works.They want to give a false sense impression to Indian women than it's their freedom to do whatever you want to do because western countries do that too. But these stupid journalists don't know that western countries have a system in place to punish someone if they even misbehave with women. People end up in jail just for touching a girl. People end up in jail if they touch a minor girl even if that girl wanted to be with that man. The ground realities are different in India and absolutely opposite. These women can't even go to a police station for an FIR after getting drunk because Daroga might also take his turn. So what these creative artists in Indian news media and Bollywod guru's are doing is simply fuelling the desire to get drunk, get nude and sending the message that it's ok to be indescent in public places and that's every Indian woman's freedom. After 10 years the electronic media were able to create more sl_ts in India than what pi_ps working in red light area never dreamed off. The Indian educated class is mentally, still a slave of western world. My advice to them is what you do inside your home is acceptable to everyone. But what is not acceptable are the ills of western world being shown on the streets of India because it does break the social fabric of this countries and small kids are watching the TV all the time. So my request to these people in news media who think they are very honest people and are saving the rights of Indian women are just cutting the roots of true culture of India and Karnatka and any other states.
ReplyDeleteAnd my advise to Ram Sena is that there is no point in beating these girls. Instead catch hold of all these journalists and movie makers who fuel this kind of behaviour and bent on making Indian women a commodity in International market.
Hope those idiots who didn't understand the downside of women freedom will start thinking about the other side of the coin as well and will make informed decision about the freedom.
Anil Kumar
Leeds, UK
Sorry folks I was in little hurry to write but I hope you got the essence of the argument against it. The dream team at NDTV Barkha, Natasha and someone named Sonia Singh decided to ignore my comments and never posted them. Hope they will wake up and start debating these issues in true sense. Get this country out of corruption and lack of accountability and then talk about a woman's freedom to get drunk in a public place. I am sure majority of these people who want to send this letter to home ministry would not like to see their sister and mothers in the pub drinking alcohol and an old bast_rd trying to take advantage of their drunken state.
ReplyDeleteHow fake and hypocrite your comment is Mr Anil Kumar!!! People like you and Umesh are male chauvinists who think that Indian women should be carrying the burden of male dictated Indian culture. The so called "INDIAN CULTURE" should keep women covered from head to toe and in her home before 7 pm, she should be obedient (or rather subservient) to anybody and everybody who claims a right on her according to the books of "INDIAN CULTURE" - be it father, husband, in-laws, brother....the list is endless. And after seeing the cowardly act of Ram Sena using violence on women and the cheap acts of molestation going on the streets of Bangalore and elsewhere in India, I am just to say that now eve-teasers, molesters, and maybe even rapists are to be added in the list of people who have a claim on the Indian women according to the rules of "INDIAN CULTURE". When the heck you people are going to stop bragging about it??? Even though you might be educated, progressed, developed or immigrated you men are and will remain senseless animals for simple reason that if you get Indian women to be under control and to your use by simple book theories of "INDIAN CULTURE" why leave this golden opportunity??? You are sick!
ReplyDeleteAn Indian woman has every right to be independent and assertive in her thoughts, behavior, personality, attire and choices (that includes drinking and dancing) and cannot be Talibanised by people like you or the Ram Sena. These attacks are attacks on Indian democracy. If left unchecked and untended, in no time the radicalism and fundamentalism will consume this country and its democracy, for heeds my words - radicals and fundamentalists mindlessness knows no boundaries. Hence, tomorrow it could be you - Anil and Umesh or your family members, being targeted by new theories of these mindless people!!!
You're absolutely right, Sakshi. No matter what a woman is doing, a man has no right to abuse her. Anil and Umesh are putting the blame on the victim when it is men who rape, men who attack and men who decide what is "right" for a woman.
ReplyDeleteIt is time women should be able to decide what is right for them.
only fausnable cloth wearing and pub going women are progressive and modern, others not.gathala.ajay@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI am glad you replied to my post as the professional journalists are sadly lacking journalistic values and pick up only those arguments which are convenient to them. It makes me smile when people like you say that it's an attack on Indian democracy. The problem is that 99% of educated Indians don't know the true meaning of democracy andyou seems to be one of them. The democracy in India is limited to people like you and me who can afford it either by contacts or by money or free advise from influential people we know in our family/friend circle. Just ask the people of Nithari in Noida where 28 kids went missing in one year and police didnt file even a single FIR for a year. And everyone know how these kids who happen to be poor were cut into pieces by a wealthy businessman. They can teach you where their democratic right stands. In a democratic country their are free citizen advice bureau to help people who are not previliged like you or me and police comes within seconds if you decide to call them. So let's not talk about democracy.
ReplyDeleteWhen you say that people like me want to Talibanise women shows your lack of understanding of Taliban and missing the point of my post. In other words you are speaking the language of elite journalists of Indian News media. The life is not in black and white as you think. Just for your information Taliban is a brutal organization who don't slap and no one wants to be them. They do capital punishment which is out of date and women have definite role to play to make a country great and prosperous. Just for your information there are millions of Indian women who live abroad and wear western dresses, drink wine, work in night shifts and few follow the pub culture as well. But because their is a proper system in place in these countries, no one is worried or take it as an offence...including myself. And the most important thing is poorest of poor in these countries has a standard of living similar to an average family in India. But what you and people who belong to your category are doing is essentially embracing this western culture when this country is not mature enough to provide basic necessities to it's 80% of poors. And the so called freedom of women to drink alcolhol in public places and women wearing skimpy dresses and obscene language and scenes by Bollywood Diva's brings in additional sins to India which it can't afford. The awards from such behaviour you will get for free are an alcoholic society, alcoholic related diseases, broken relationships, divorces, kids living with either mother or father and exploitation of poor girls who will be used and dumped at will. By fighting for pubs and such causes shows how selfish are people like you.
As I said to NDTV journalists that what you do inside your home is none of our business. And I repeat to you as well. When you are at home whether you get drunk, try all postures of kamsutra or do whatever you want, it's none of my business. But when you are outside in public I expect the educated class of women to show descency and be sensitive to childrens and don't create this impression that you can do whatever you want to do. There was a survey in America where they say 45% of women who are between 35 and 45 are single mother. In other words they had great time when they were in their 20's and mid 30's. But once that beauty and sex appeal was gone they were dumped and left broken heart. If you wish you and your family members can go the path you love so passionately and break the originality of this great country called India. Pub culture is only one of the problem. The main problem lies with these elite journalists on TV, movies and selfish nature of we Indians who don't even know the concept of giving back something to the society. It's because of this selfishness of educated and wealthy Indians that we help foreigners made slumdog millionaire and do ga ga ga over it for months. Unless the people of this country loves themselves for who they are and keep their originality they will never get the respect of western world.
Why even follow western country and copy them. Just go one step ahead of them. Make an Indian version of beauty contest where 2 piece bikini can be replaced with one piece or even more. Even Aishwarya rai will be jealous of missing such a new freedom. But I am sure she can still do that as it's her choice and freedom and Bachhan family should not stop. Believe me Indians will be noticed a lot in western world if they do this new beauty contest.Just ask ShilpaShetty if I am lying.
I know it's hard to understand all this immediately but if you try it's not that complicated to understand.
Why SHOULDN'T a woman drink alcohol in public places? If you say neither men nor women then one might even consider your argument, but why only women. And why are putting the onus of setting a good example on children on the women alone? Don't men also have to behave responsibly? There are so many flashers who roam the streets of India, it's all very well for you to talk from the UK, isn't peeing on the street setting a bad example to children?
ReplyDeleteWe do love who we are Mr.Anil, that's why we're fighting for what we believe in instead of settling down in a foreign country. Originality is good you say? Then please also know that the culture of covering up women has been adapted from the Mughals and the British(the Victorian Era, to be specific), before these outside influences the dress code for women was far less restrictive. Please look it up before you spout such rubbish.
As for broken relationships and alcoholism. Do you know how many women in India undergo mental and physical abuse at the hands of their alcoholic husbands? And the unfortunate bit is that society does not, even though the law does, give them enough freedom to walk out from such situations with their heads held high. All divorces are not due to women I can assure you. Please think before you stereotype and generalise. And don't comment from afar on situations like this.
Freespirit,
ReplyDeleteIndia is much better in many respects than this so called developed nation. UK is temporary basera. So I will be back in India and my views don't change because of my geographic location.
Just to ask you a question on how many times bloggers tried to educate people on how to behave in public, how many times media and our movies send the message of what is acceptable. This includes peeing on the street, making fun of poor people, exploitation of poor kids as servants at home and now this new trend following western ills blindly which invite more crime against women.
First spend some time and energy in solving the issues you raised about Indian men and Indian society and teach them how to respect woman if she happens to be not your mother or sister. And make the system of policing and judiciary trustworthy. Once the Indian man is mature enough and India has a robust system then you can bring in the ills of west to India. I think no one will object. The case of India is similar to jumping queues. How many times your blood boiled to fix these issues which you yourself have identified??
And if you read my post carefully I am saying it's one of the reason and not the only reason and it's inviting crime against women and all these poor girls are actually a victim of ill-informed comments from so called elite news media and movies that it's your freedom to do whatever you can. If something bad happens nobody is going to help the victim. Will barkha Dutt or Sonia Singh will pay the medical expenses if someone is seriously hurt in these attacks. If you read my first post carefully you will understand that attacks by Ram Sena or Ravan Sena are not the best approach . If we attack the media and bollywood movie makers who fuel this kind of behaviour then crime against women will be reduced significantly and Ram Sena will become bankrupt.
You rightly said that loads of women are in the abusive relationship with their husband. Do you think if woman start drinking then this problem will go away. To make women strong they should be given necessary physical workout from school itself and encouraged to take part in sports and councelling if someone is in a abusive relationship. Sitting in front of computer screens and gossiping about movies make the indian girls/boys weakest in the world when it comes to physical strength. If you think alcohol will be the solution for women then good luck. Will elite journalists in news media channel take note of it.
The focus and vision of Indian educated class is very limited to say the least. I have seen and met people from many countries...including some from very poor countries. But I have never seen people so desperate to look good and modern like white people in western world. Our movies, obscene dancing in songs, mode of discussions in the debates is mostly western which doesn't represent 80% of population. And educated class take same blame for it as our illiterate policitians to make Indian woman a commodity. Freedom comes at a price. If the society is disciplined and honest then you can have loads of freedom but if society is broken then this freedom will definitely ruin the lives of some of the modern Indian women and crimes will multiply many folds. As Baba Ramdev correctly said on Aastha channel...His bufallo in the village is much more modern than those women who reveal their bodies in movies because his bufallo doesn't wear anything.
Good Luck for your selfish fight !!
Wow...I am seeing one of the lamest excuse here by Anil!
ReplyDeleteI can still understand a 5th grade passed Indian man saying that since one doesn't have the infrastructure one should remain subservient to surroundings and conditions, but Anil has taken it to new heights by his comments showing how educated Indian people use their pen and minds in order to set back Indian women in real deceitful way!
Men back in the 20's said - look since there are mindless and ruthless people making Indian women go SATI, people opposing it should shut their mouths and eyes since there is no appropriate action on behalf of government, police and judiciary and society as a whole i.e. there is no AFFORDABLE DEMOCRACY to all! Hahahaha....
Men back in the 60's said - look the area Indian women are designated to is the 4*4 square feet of kitchen. So women stepping out of that area for job or entertainment are deserved to be subjected to harassment and molestation and again since there is no one to look after them (our government, police and judiciary) they should sit back in that area only and dare not step out! Again no AFFORDABLE DEMOCRACY you see....
No where in evolution of mankind and cultures across the entire world did it ever happen that subjugation (of any kind!) was meant to continue since there was no appropriate democratic structure or limited democracy or other insufficient democracy related references made by Anil!
Hence people, please atleast post excuses with some logical reasoning and something that makes sense like 2 + 2 = 4 (if you know at all what LOGIC is!)
And as a matter of fact you missed the whole point of "Taliban". If someone only slaps and does not kill is a better person than Talibanese then you are as good as condoning the perpetrators and you are one of the offenders yourself! "Taliban" word is used in reference to one and any who takes away the freedom of expression, speech and choice by INTIMIDATION of any kind!
And what are these lame excuses - do they even match up to your argument?
Being not able to help 80% poor in India does not make an excuse for limiting freedom of women! :D Hahahaha...According to this lame logic there should not have been TV, refrigerators, cars brought into India.
And why should something lewd shown by Bollywood or tight jeans wearing women should make men go jumping on these women? I have a very strong argument against this but I don't think you are good in logic. So I say something simple for you to understand - that which does not belong to them should not be grabbed or forced upon. If sick mentality of such men and yours define the so called "INDIAN CULTURE", then please follow it yourself by wearing blindfolds but don't dare define rules for Indian women!
Being alcoholic, diseased, rising exploitation or divorces are effects of no Western influence. The reason behind these malice existed since ancient India - now the numbers are just out in open! And if you think that Indian women should remain submissive in their traumatized marriages for the fear of men like you who will intimidate her when single and due to stigma of rising divorces, then once again you are just being lame. According to your theory I wish you stop breathing oxygen since it is anyways depleting from the earth's atmosphere and save the world!
See around you, the movement has already begun and you or people like you can never continue the camouflaged exploitation of Indian women anymore in any phases of life!! But I don't think you would ever understand that either.
Hi I am Keerthan
ReplyDeleteall these days I was boiling inside due to recent attacks in Mangalore. I don't know if this is a genuine blog or not, all I want is to vent out my anger.
When I saw the footage on TV, the first picture came to my mind was the cruelty of thaliban from ogrish.com. A very thin line seperates Sri Ram Sena from thaliban, that is the later kill people. The ideology and the methodology are the same between two grooups. If you let go sena activists, they eventually kill somebody for their campaign. It's high time for conservative parents, white collars, and so called "common man" of Karnataka to come forward in any form they could to protest against this group and exercise your basic rights. If not, tomorrow these sena members will tell you not to wear T-shirts, Jeans, and underwear, it's not indian culture. They will tell you not to use commode, that's not indian culture.
Wake up "common man", especially people from Mangalore, tell Sri Ram Sena that if they really concerned on social causes then go beat up those men who start their day drinking liquor, beat up those who smoke in public place, beat up those manhandle their spouse and kids in public, beat up those who takes bribes. There are multiple ways to help social causes instead of beating up women in pubs. What are they trying to prove. If anyone whould have done tested Blood Alcohol Level (BAL) of those men who created havoc on that fateful day in Mangalore, I bet 90% of the tests would have come positive.
If Sena is really protesing against the pub culture, why are they not beating up the government policy makers who give license for the pubs, why are they not beating up the men who make liquor.
Talking about Indian culture and liquor or pub, the term madhira is even mentioned in mahabarath. These sena men are taking karnataka to stone age. There are no words to condemn the hineous act of Sri Ram Sena backed by Home minister Acharya, Sadananda Gowda, and the chief minister himself. It is unfortunate for people of karnataka who elected these men to power. If someone has noticed, the feeling of insecurity, goondaism, and frustration among common public has risen in last 6 months. God bless kannadigas.
"pink chaddi" is the right answer for these men. I live in New Jersey and I am damn serious about collecting pink chaddis as much as I can, talk about it whenever and wherever possible, and send them over to Muthalik, Mr Acharya, and Mr Yediyurappa.
All the best pink chaddhi campaigne.
Anil,
ReplyDeleteHow is independence of women same as alcoholic society, rising divorce rate and single parenthood? How many person does it need to file a divorce? How many it takes to create a broken relationship? 2, right?. So, if divorce takes place on flimsy ground and a child has to suffer an unstable family of single parenthood, why should the blame lie squarely on women ? I suppose men need not take any responsibility for their action, huh?
Coming to that survey you quoted of 45% in 35-45 age group women being single. Did the survey also mention that they are very unhappy in their lives, or was that your interpretation? Even assuming they ARE unhappy, did the survey ask these women if this "bitter" experience has made them in favor of a society where fathers decides how far should she be educated, to whom and when she should be married,
husband decides if she can continue working and all the time, men and other family decide how she should conduct herself?
My point is, a wrong utilization of choice ( and even that judgement of it being wrong has to be decided by the do-er and not YOU) does not make a case of having no choice at all.
Talking about breaking of social fabric, it happened in all ages. Does the current indian society resemble its counterpart 100 or even 50 years back? Caste was all pervasive then, its reduced now. Love marriage was unheard of then - very frequent now. so which social fabric are you talking about?
Your other argument against india not being matured enough to deal with "pub going and skimpily" dressed women is simply hilarious. Why dont you extend this logic to nithari victims and say, poor men shouldnt have kids in the first place
unless rich men stop behaving like Pandher? Besides, the immatured indian mindset that you say is responsible for attack on women is is displayed by you as well when you say " in public, i expect women to behave decently...." which is to say, -> "i expect women to behave as per MY definition of decency". Thats exactly what SRS said to justify their Mangalore attack.
Coming to Bollywoods commodification of women, yeah..theres truth in that. But so do people who say stuff like women are ghar ki izzat blah blah For the fomer, it is a sex object to be enjoyed, for the later, its a family property to be controlled and guarded. Both deny her right and space as an individual.
Sakshi you sound desperate. You are claiming things for which you have not an iota of idea about. May be in your community women were in 4X4 kitchen. I never heard that men wanted that to happen...:) Thanks for giving me an insight into it.
ReplyDeleteWhen you or your mother wear tight jeans you are absolutely right that men should not jump on you and make sexual advances. But if you decide to go ahead then be prepared that it's more likely that you will become a victim of sexual abuse. The simple rason being the forces of nature work differently with men when they see women in provocative dresses. Forget about criminals...even a descent person want to have a second look if what he saw was indeed true. Vishwamitra's tpasya was gone for six by the provocative looks of opposite sex.
My point is that don't send a wrong message to other innocent girls and increase crime against women just because you think it's your freedom. If you make certain choices there is a possibility of some costly price to be paid for it. There are lots of crocodiles in every society who feed on such foolish girls including Bollywood...And there is no system to protect you in India unless you have your own means to fight back...Everybody is not Jessica lal that media will take up her case...If you can't get this simple fact registered in your mind then eat some brain food.
Having said that it doesn't mean that women should be in burka or covered head to toe...The problem with your narrow mind is that you take the argument to other extreme and try to put a counter argument.
Indian women has become a commodity...thanks to women like you who foolishly thinks they are modern by following west blindly. Mushrooming of numerous advertisments of massage parlour by educated, english speaking girls is a product of forward thinking women like you. It was there before but your freedom mantra without thinking through the realities of this country has multiplied it many times. In other words people like you have helped the people in flesh trade INDIRECTLY and it will continue as long as we have sadak-chhap heroines in bollywood movies.
There are many good things about west which are never discussed in our elite news media channels. But that's another topic.
In the end I would just say
Kauva (crow) chalaa hans ki chaal aur apani chaal bhi bhoola...
Hilarious! Your comments should be preserved in consortium of fools logic forever Anil! No head or toe basis for your reasoning once again as it is seen!!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt people like you were the ones in 20s and 60s stone age era, just the context has changed. If people like you don't realize your sins of lust and greed and throw its burden of so called "INDIAN CULTURE" on soft targets like Indian women, then there is no reason to argue with your mindlessness any further for your argument leads to the conclusion that there should be rapists since there exists commodity for them called women! People having such minds are pure evil.
That's a good thought to put my comments in consortium of fools logic forever. That way when you grow old and wrinkles start to appear you can go back and read them and probably make sense out of them.
ReplyDeleteTruth always hurt and it hurts even more when someone puts it bluntly.
Let me guess...your parents must be from 60's generation or before and grandparents from 20's...I hope you are not ashamed of them.
I will repeat one last time on this hilarious pink chaddi forum. My intention is to bring in both side of equations which our elite news media channels people has decided to ignore. They are busy showing juicy stories which doesn't improve societies and only help in increasing crimes...whether against women or in general. If they show both sides of the equation then people will not adopt things foolishly. And this pink chaddi campaign shows how selfishly people spend their time and energy on stupid things.
Hi Nisha, I have sent E-mail to Acharya, Chidambaram regarding the heinous attacks on women by people having perverted minds.
ReplyDeleteAlso I have let many of my friends know of your efforts of trying to bring down vile people doing the moral policing acts by immoral behavior.
And as for people like Anil Kumar - who think shrugging their own lust and greed is the ultimate truth, they will definitely be in the consortium of fool's logic about whom I will surely and proudly tell my grand children, whose tyranny we did overthrow as our parents and grandparents proudly tell us about the downfall of the tyrants they faced!! :D Keep going Nisha!
how could u let anil kumar even post?? he just seems narrow minded and i hope he doesnt migrate to india.I would want any indian to have such opinions.Its a few people like him that degrade the society.As far as im concerned, he is no better than those fanatic fools attacking karnataka.Its just that his thoughts havent turned into actions,yet!!
ReplyDeleteAnil Kumar's sad comments indicate just how deeply ingrained the male desire to blame everything on women is. Do men EVER take responsibility for their actions - say flatly, this is wrong? NO, just excuses and more excuses. No integrity! It means all you 'moral police' have no morals yourselves, na?
ReplyDeleteSystem for insuring equal rights not in place, you say, so we cannot have them? How about working to get it right, not take away women's freedoms? With all your blather, why not do something yourself to correct all this imbalance, Mr. Kumar?
Where is the responsibility of men to be MEN, adults that is, in any of your posts? The responsibility to be mature, ethical, respectful, not to be cowards who need a group to attack defenseless women? Are women obliged to treat men as idiotic children all their lives, because males act incapable of growing up or evolving or treating others fairly, with respect?
Ah, I see: your solution is 'take away freedoms of women or women, you pay the price'. "Just be slaves, then you earn our respect and we shall not beat you." Isn't that what you mean? Ha!! It has been tried already, and this acceptance of women is what gives us the 'ills' of modern society - 100,000 women burned to death in dowry fires per year; harassment, abuse, second class status for us.
Women were in little position to complain in past times. Now we are, so stand aside and let us claim our freedoms since the poor ethics of men will not allow freedom to be rightfully given to us all.
Work on your own psychology which believes the solution is for women to chain themselves and men left free to beat them. The real problems are in the minds of MEN, and their belief that they have the right to dominate, control, or dictate to women. Realize that YOU are the problem - who is doing the raping, the harassment, the attacking?? Men! It is you who need to change, the rest is all excuses.
Be happy that women here are fair and open-minded enough to allow your laughable comments.
I just have one question for you Mr. Anil Kumar-
ReplyDeleteI am no less an Hindu and an Indian than any of the so called 'activists' of Ram Sena...... WHO GAVE THEM THE RIGHT TO INTERPRET MY RELIGION AND MY CULTURE FOR ME????
Who are they decide what how i should decode, live and practice my religion or my culture??
If they think women shouldnt drink, wear western clothes, go out..or whatever else..they can try convincing thier wives, mothers, sisters. Who are they to impose thier interpretation on me ??
If you and the Ram Sena think that the country is being polluted by 'Western Culture'...then there is a democratic process to express your views... vote for a party that agrees with your views....or better still stand in election.
From where I stand, people like Ram Sena have today completely insulted MY religion by your shameful behaviour. And given MY God 'Ram' a bad name.
Priya
I thought my last post will be the last one. Just thought I will try one more time.
ReplyDeleteI guess all of you who get nausea after reading my posts must be drunk when you reply back to me...:) Right from my first post I have said that Ram Sena should not hit these girls. And I also said that their attack should have been on news media and cheap bollywodd movie makers who are not ashamed to show women as commodity and increasing the crimes against the women. Having said that I dont have any sympathy for these girls who were hit.
Crime against women happen in western world as well. Girls get beaten, molested and raped when they are out and specially in drunken state.
Now read carefully below which the Indian elite news media doesn't tell you and warn you about. They talk for hours about women's freedom to do whatever they want to do. But the basic difference again I repeat in developed countries is that the person who commits these crimes is hunted and brought to justice and even if someone has committed a minor offences it stays on their records for their life and it hurts them while getting a job, getting a lon etc. etc. THIS IS NOT THE CASE IN INDIA AS OF NOW. SO JUST GET THIS FACT IN YOUR MIND EVEN IF ITS NARROW LIKE MINE...BECAUSE NDTV OR BOLLYWOOD PRODUCER WONT COME TO GET YOU JUSTICE.
If Indian government somehow manages to start a program with the help of Ambani's and Mittal's which allows every educated and desperate Indians to go to western world for couple of months on educational tour ...free of cost... and show them some of the good things in west and also some of the ills which are there for number of years.... which India has just started to experience... then these educated and desperate people won't be so desperate to fight for issues related to pubs and will love and appreciate their roots much more.
Following is in response to Priya's question. There are bad elements in every religion and Hindu religion is no exception. I never heard of Ram Sena until NDTV started talking about pink chaddi campaign for Ram Sena. I felt that NDTV's barkha Dutt, Natasha, Sonia Singh crossed line of descency on the news channel when they keep repeating pink chaddi on national tv. The intenetion of Ram Sena is good to keep a level of descenecy but their tactics to stop it were wrong. We can't leave...and when I say we I mean we as a society which is made up of men, women, kids, grandparents...If we leave everything to an individual's freedom then some women/men might want to do jogging without wearing a top or drop her trousers. because it's his/her freedom. There are two problems with that society
1) more crime against women. Sexual crimes against men are not serious unless it's another man.
2) It will be little difficult for a grandfather who is taking his 4 year old grandson to park for a morning walk to explain if that child starts asking some curious questions about that jogger's lack of clothing..It doesn't matter jogger is male or female.
Why do we even react to hypocrites such as Anil Kumar on this forum? Shouldn't our energy be more focused on how to gather more support, create awareness and let powers-that-be know that this group of potential voters is very very unhappy with the state of governance and public security and wants concrete action?
ReplyDeleteI personally thought Pink Chaddi campaign was silly...I did not agree with the mode of protest. But as women in my favorite city in the world are being attacked in open daylight (and lame logic-less idiots waste time in this forum...comparing how we should not allow women to do as they want...because....well...we are not the West...) I have no option but to add my voice to the brave women who are doing what we can to tackle this evil menace.
Lets find the best strategy, leverage the strength of a group, make the most of our democratic system and make our voice heard! Pay no heed to opportunistic toads who while sitting away from India, more likely ogling at Western women while consuming porn over Internet...preach Indian culture to one half of the society. They are so not worth a decent reply.
@Anil kumar,
ReplyDeletePlease dont waste your enegery responding to these ladies. Let them throw their chaddies where ever they want to. if their parents dont care if their daughters booze,dope or dance nude in pubs ,why should others think of it?
@Priya
I would only say, the mode you chose to respond slightly deviated from the line of decency. I cant imagine an indian woman, sending her undergarment (for what ever reason it is) to somebody in form of protest.
if you had held a candle light vigil with some good slogans, it would have served same purpose. Ramasena activists did something wrong by perpetrating violence,But their motive of protesting against pub culture,is appreciated by many. and for average indians,
you all just ended up as one of those woman,who consider pegs consumed and number of lays as the measure of freedom .
and you all did pretty much wrong when you pulled in RSS into this.
You sounded pretty bold, when you wrote this:
"I have no option but to add my voice to the brave women who are doing what we can to tackle this evil menace."
Are you bold enough to take on all hindu rightwing organizations?

ReplyDelete@Priya & others
ReplyDeleteBangalore violence is a boomerang made out of all the chaddies you had sent.
Since MEN had suppressed you all your life,
dont ask MEN bystanders for HELP when you are chased by GOONS.( When you try to defame or dirty somebody's face, expect them to dirty YOUR FACE AND UR LOVED ONE'S face too)
Try doing what you did to BRAHMAKUMARI'S LOGO to a church logo or the crescent.
you all need not be blamed,only your upbringing should be.
dope booze and dance nude, and throw away your chaddies. good luck
@Anil Kumar
ReplyDeleteThis champaign is all about timings:
1)Election TIME( so called impotent seculars get a load full of DIRT to dirty saffron)
2)Press TIMIng ( press was ready to shoot the video of SRS violence at the right time and right place ) p.s please remember the violence did not last than 3 mins.(ref records) and no injuries to the woman,except for a lady who fell down while running.
I didn't think about timings of elections...It does make perfect sense to me now..Thanks dear.
ReplyDeleteI am even more ashamed to know that these ladies want to send their own chaddi's. My thoughts were they are sending a new one and I was guessing there must be one black sheep among them who is into business of selling ladies undergarments to increase his/her sale during this recession.
Just to educate these ladies that a chaddi is as private as the private parts of an individual and it retains their distinct smell...good or bad. And most likely these will be thrown away to dustbins by those who will be getting them. And you know dogs are a stray animal in India...they will play with those for few minutes and tear that apart when they find them...But dogs also have great sense to smell things....So next time when you go out to pubs and chances are that the same dog who happen to tear your own chaddi may sense the same smell...so be careful because that could have nasty effects.
Born Hindu- its ok for you to talk like - girls here dance nude..or Anils saying - "forces of nature act differently with men" to
ReplyDeletejustify sexual abuse and incidents of goons chasing women a perfect tit for tat.
Its only pink chaddis that you find crossing the line of decency. Some sense of decency!
@Nandini
ReplyDeletePink chaddi becomes offensive if the award winning reporters of NDTV keep mentioning this on national TV. Otherwise who cares whether you send a chaddi or a thong...pink or black.
And forces of nature works differently for men and women. If a man is not a principled man...he will succumb to nature's call very easily whether he is drunk or not...In woman's case it's not instantaneous unless she either does this for money or she is drunk... That's a known fact and is as clear as the body structure and phsycial capabilities of a man and woman.
Our news channels addiction to show cheap tabloit news as breaking news and bollywood heroines smooching, sex scenes have fueled and misguided girls to become sl_ts. Aishwarya Rai is no exception...Her change of partners every couple of years and allowing someone to nibble her lips just before her marriage shows her family values. Media still portrays her as the role model and that helps in bringing in new lots of sl_ts and this ugly cycle has taken its roots now.
From my personal experience I used to watch Saare-ga-ma-pa quiet a lot in the late ninties. Lately even that program is taken over by provocative and filthy dances from these young singers. And the producers of these programs must have definitely forced it on them. Thank god there is a handy thing called remote...I am truely amazed at the level of greed and no responsibilities what so ever towards this constant rape of our originality and culture by the people in electronic, print media and beloved bollywood.
I assure you this is my last post...I just want to remind a song written few decades back and how true is that for Sakshi and her followers...
Raamchandra keh gaye siyaase
aaisa kaljug aayega
hans chugega daana tinka
kawwa moti khaayega
AND IN THE END IT HAS FOLLOWING LINES....
mandir soona soona hoga
bhari rahengi madhushaala(Pubs if u dont know)
pitaa ke sang sang bhari sabhaa mein
naachengi ghar ki baala
JUST READ LAST 2 LINES AND THAT JUST SUMS IT UP...IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND I CAN TRANSLATE THEM INTO ENGLISH ONCE MORE...
Shubh Ratri...
@Nandini
ReplyDeleteDont be hurt about what i told you.
The pub including the one,which was attacked,
are convenient pickup points as it is very much understood.if you dont agree,go visit other pubs in mangalore.
and about "dancing nude"
dear look at the rave parties,and parties in the farmhouses conducted in the outskirts of bangalore and mysore. if you are not updated, update yourself.many of those "moderate" alchoholic "loose" "forward" ladies are given drugs mixed with "moderate alchohol".then they are used by their "forward" "loose" friends and colleagues.
.please go through the below link too.
http://www.bangaloremirror.com/index.aspx?page=article§id=1&contentid=2009020620090206163344560bfc3edbf§xslt=&pageno=1
Be "loose" and wear "loose chaddies " too. it will help your BP.
But if you get tooo "loose & forward" and get "alchoholic" it could get you all PREGNANT.
Take a minute and think about your parents atleast, how they will feel.
Chaddies...bah
@Anil kumar
ReplyDeleteit was well illustrated.
India in 21st century offers "real freedom" to both sexes which many countries dont.
Only if these "loose" ladies understood it.
My 2 bits to the cause in the form os Slideshow can be found here:

@Mr Anil Kumar,
ReplyDeleteSir since you happen to know so much about this culture and care so much for it, why then are you in the UK. Why dont you give that up and work here in some grassroots initiative. Let me just tell you that Khajurao, Kamasutra and Konark are all part of Indian culture. Study our ancient art and sculpture. You will realize that women wore far less then than they do today! And even today visit remote villages in Tamil Nadu and you will find that women do not wear blouses.So that settles your argument about skimpy clothes. And secondly there is no one Indian Culture. This land is way diverse for that. So stop your cultural harping. I am not defending the decadence which is rampant in our society but neither am i condoning your closed views.
As for the campaigners,
ReplyDeleteIt is wrong what is happening. But i wonder why is it now with urban women getting attacked everyone is awake? Where have these voices been all these years. Not like this country did not have its share of shit! Fact is most people voicing there anger now have never done anything for the needy here or elsewhere. Their way of life has been attacked so they now feel it important to do something. To those who have been fighting the good fight i apologise (not generalizing) but to those who only look at it in this narrow way- Do something real (stop making noice) Forgo your comfy life and dedicate your life towards healing!
i know this is not a platform to bring this up. But dont you all wonder why there was such an outcry for the attacks on Mumbai and when the Naxals or other forces routinely do the same not much is heard about it! Wonder where is the courageous Burkha Dutt then? Oh i forgot she is busy hosting the BIG FIGHT. Am not saying Mumbai was not a tragedy, any loss of human life is, but how many have stopped to think about the people living in the 100 odd naxal controlled districts, or the people caught up in the separatist affected areas? I see a similarity between the Mumbai attacks and the Ram Sena attacks and it is this: When the poor are harmed not many bother, when the better off are everyone pays attention. I know common people suffered in Mumbai during the attacks, but what really beat my understanding was that why was there such an issue about the Hotels being damaged? Most new channels seemed so hurt by the destruction to the Taj Hotel. Please people died, should that not occupy all the importance. So stop just looking at things when they hit close to home. Also do something for those who have no NDTV or Pink Chaddie to turn to. Be the change. These measures are half baked. You may ask me what am i doing. I can proudly say that i am trying to be the change i wish to see. I have chosen the greater cause over money and comforts. So i would say more of you out there should try the same!! Wont hurt!
ReplyDeleteMy point is that these attacks are wrong. Narrow vies as put forward by the co called true Hindu is wrong and so are the views of Mr. Anil. But this campaign is rather one dimensional, and that too is not right! If people want change they should do much more! A lot more.
ReplyDelete@ advitya
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your comments and that's a right way to build societies by giving something back to people who are less fortunate. It's a huge task and asking a great deal from eductaed and rich class. I try to do my bit whenever I could. The charity work is not being taught in schools, in temples and certainly not in our elite news media and hence lack of awareness.
I am abroad for work from time to time. My permanent home is still where my roots are.
As far as skimpy dresses are concerned I think you are confusing the issue. If you go to forests of South America or remote islands in Indian oceans there are various tribal communities where both men and women wear just a leaf around there. But I don't think that's objectionable and in fact that's the treasure of culture which has stayed for probably thousands of years. I hope if they are happy with that lifestyle, the greed of some industrialist or politicians should not destroy it. But the comparison of Pubbers with tribal population is like comparing apples with oranges.
The real issue is media and bollywood in last decade who are working non-stop to misguide women about what is true freedom. The non-stop display to show women doing provocative dances, drinking alcohols in public, shameless reporting of which bollywood heroine has smooched whom and who has crush on which men has made it very difficult for an average family to raise their kids in a healthy environment. These jokers have changed the meaning of NEWS and RAPE THIS WORD EVERYDAY. You can't leave a TV set on and let the kids watch it while you cook something in the kitchen. If media shows them at late night I would be least concerned. But to see it day in and day out, 24X7 can play havoc in the mind of even those who were brought up with good family values. And you can already see the affects of it on the societies and hence the worst kind of crimes erupting against the women. With the absence of a proper system in place in India these things are on the rise.
Media is FEEDING on this. They are helping to create a criminal society by showing women in poor light and using them as commodity and then they also have the courage to take a MORALE HIGH GROUND to report crimes and even pass their own judgement without having complete facts with them. There are numerous cases to support it.
That's the summary of role of today's elite news media in India...
The answer is what you suggested and in addition to that there MUST be defined timings at late night for this filth to be beamed on TV so that younger generation is not exposed to it during day time when parents are busy with their job. A country can afford western ills if it has proper policing, judiciary system with complete transparency and honesty.
If we don't allow anyone to get married until they are 18 or 21 then why do we bombard these young kids with sexually explicit contents and cheap news 24X7.
Loads of anchors and reporters on NDTV, star news, aajtak have lot to answer for continuing with this filth as we discuss. I would rather be called narrow minded than stay quiet and let these FILTHY people whether on NDTV, AajTak, Star etc. to report juicy news that creates a filthy society. I hope they are listening.
@advitya
ReplyDelete"Narrow vies as put forward by the co called true Hindu is wrong and so are the views of Mr. Anil."
did that "true hindu" thing mean me ?
Mr Anil Kumar presumes that no one posting here has lived in the west. I have - the UK and the US, for several years. And unlike him, I HAVE RETURNED HOME to Bangalore instead of hiding behind the excuse that I will do so "some day" and that "this is only a temporary basera" and "home is where my heart is".
ReplyDeleteI am a wife, a daughter, a daughter in law, and a mother. I drink alcohol - in the company of my 73 year old mother in law, my 74 year old father in law and my husband - both within my home as well as in restaurants and yes, pubs. We share a close sense of family, which perhaps you, living as you do in the west, do not.
I wear jeans and T-shirts, just like the women in the west whom you so revile (yet continue to make money off and probably bow and scrape to for business purposes).
I do know what it is like to live in a developed country. And I think we have a better quality of life here. Your English language skills suck, so you probably have a menial or low-paying job of some kind or are on welfare - if at all you do indeed live in the UK. In the west, that can be very tough and isolating. This probably explains your frustration and your lack of a clear sense of identity.
I have two teenage sons, and I hope that they both grow up to respect women, the choices they make, and most of all - the views of other people. In other words, I hope they are nothing like you.
Sounds like someone got burnt badly by my comments.
ReplyDeletePeople in the IT sector are the most active web surfers and 9 out of 10 people who belong to IT have worked in the western world for some duration...short or long... I believe more than half of the people who have written on this blog belong to IT and have been to developed nations from time to time. So your initial assumption - "Mr Anil Kumar presumes that no one posting here has lived in the west" seems to be WRONG.
That's great that you have moved back to Bangalore for good. I am sure you know that 99 out of 100 NRI's NEVER come back for one reason or another. I lived abroad for few years, had good time and 3 years back decided to come back to India for good. I am sure you are aware that if you work in IT you are required to travel to different clients. Again your assumption that I am hiding behind an excuse is WRONG. My roots are still in India even if I am abroad for few months.
Your comment on my english language skills again confirms that educated class of India is mentally a slave of Western world. I think my english language skills and your logical reasoning...they BOTH stink....
I am guessing you are educated. PLEASE correct me if I am wrong.
If you are educated I am sure you are aware that if someone knows english it doesn't mean he/she is educated. Many guides and taxi drivers in India who take foreign tourists around India can speak english. There is a huge population in english speaking western world who speak very good english...just like you...but these people are working in the so called menial, low-paying job and many of them are on welfares.
You are right that there are so many selfish people in India who happen to be working with these MNC's and are in the business of pleasing the WHITES from west and bowing to them shamelessly at every possible opportunity. Some of these blood suckers in India don't hesitate to force these newcomers to work late at night just to please a white sitting here to meet unrealistic deadlines.
The mindset of these blood suckers is similar to yours...Your thinking that if someone doesn't know english, he/she must be doing menial jobs.
If a WHITE cleaner from west comes to visit India and need some help on the streets, I bet you that 9 out of 10 educated people will go an extra mile to help him. But if a poor Indian asks for some help chances are he will be ignored. This is a mental disease in India and you are not the only one...trust me.
This just confirms my point about how you guys think about poor masses of India who happen to be non-english speaking. People LIKE you (Mrs Suman") who are probably educated and have money or are up in the food chain believe that these non-english speaking poors of India are there just to serve them and do their menial jobs. For them PINK CHADDI campaign is ultimate test of their FREEDOM and liberation.
I don't have any problems when you go out to drink with your in-laws and hubby wearing jeans. No one bothers ladies when they are with their family and specially if you happen to be past 40 or close to it. At the same time you are mature enough to know how much to drink and even if you pass out...your family will be there to help you out. That's very sensible on your part.
If you were in 18-25 GE GROUP and hanging out in these pubs with 10 guys and drinking alcohol and dancing to the tune of "beedi jalaay le" people will definitely notice you...And if you pass out there...believe me there is a high probablity that majority of men around you will try to help you and in the process may touch you inappropriately.
I wish your two teenage sons good luck in this new India...India which has been hijacked by the wave of cheap bollywood heroines who are ready to do anything for MONEY...including Mrs Aishwarya Rai Bachhan...the ROLE MODEL for todays girl.....An India which is hijacked by those in the electronic and print news media who show a woman as a commodity every single day... non-stop... 24X7.
I just think the kind of media coverage for this stupid campaign was just not worth it.
I don't even feel like responding to some of these idiots who can't see the bigger picture and make lots of wrong assumptions when posting a counter argument.
Stop attacks on women in Karnataka
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/stop-attacks-on-women-in-karnataka
@Anil Kumar
ReplyDeleteDear, dont waste ur energy responding to so called "Desi ma'ms" . Let them ape the west as much as possible. I am sure,most of them dont know even what a pub means,and its purpose either. its just about Loud music,dope,booze and loose jeans showing off the panty and cleavage within the crowd and attracting maximum suckers.
Nisha susan succeeded in cheap publicity.
But dont you think, the violence against woman just went up,because of this campaign?
one of the attackers was even referring to her pinkchaddi.
Now all anti social elements would start checking woman for "pink chaddis" and again these ma'ms will keep on jumping saying Hindu Taliban!!
@Bornhindu
ReplyDeleteThanks dear. I agree with you 100% and you have stated very clearly what this addiction and campaign is all about. This stupid campaign will definitely hurt the women more and provide necessary fuel to anti-social elements.
@suman bolar, sakshi,& naina
ReplyDeletethe objective of pink chaddi campaign was to protest and irritate against the attackers of mangalore pub and the supporters of those sri ram sena activists. The responses from Anil Kumar and born (burn?) hindu seems like it has done enough damage, why bother to even respond.
Now, Muthalik is gadi-paar for a year. He might use those pink chuddies to cover his face wherever he goes. Let Anil Kumar and burn?hindu lick their asses, I am sure they must have seen Dostana recently. Plz send some pink's to these men.
Jai Ho pink chaddi
@Keerthan
ReplyDeletethe above comment from you shows what kind of people make up your campaign;
peseudo secularists,dopers ,drunkards and nudists..
Keerthan, personally i am sorry for you, because you have to network in such campaigns to find "loose , drunken and free woman" for your "purposes" instead of approaching a girl,like a man.(no balls??..wont tell anybody)
Talking about damage;Hope you remain safe,because your language makes it sound you will attract violence pretty soon .
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteDo visit mangalore sometime when you come down from newjersy.
ReplyDelete@Keerthan,
ReplyDeleteYou have forgotton that by saying "Jai Ho Pink Chaddi" you are worshipping the pink chaddi which may be worn by your mother, sister, daughter or wife. If the women in your household do not wear pink then it's time for him to get them some really juicy ones available out there. "Victoria Secrets" has a good selection available right there in New Jersey...My sympathies with you if they dont wear anything...

This is all very sad. To have fallen thus after vanquishing the entire Indian masculinity by merely throwing pink panties at them!
ReplyDeleteWe must consider what else to throw now. Or shall we hand over the entire issue to the Afghan Taliban and seek their protection? They are perhaps, the only secular force that can teach the Hindu Fascists the right lesson.
The very reason for wearing panties is that private parts have to be protected from infection by bacteria and virile viruses. It looks as if by throwing away our panties, we have laid ourselves open to easy infection.
Not by bullets, but by panties- seems to have failed. We might have to go back to Mahatma Gandhi again. Something like a Chaddi March, perhaps; from the Pub in Mangalore? To some Mallya brewery and make Beer.
